Wave Goodbye to Shu Uemura if you live in the USA

Stock up on those eyelash curlers while you can!

I've been reading all over the blogosphere that L’Oreal USA is closing all US operations of Shu Uemura Cosmetics. I haven't been able to find an official press release of the news yet, but I know this is probably going to put Shu Uemura fans in the US into a spin.

The move was apparently made in order for L'Oreal to focus on growing the larger brands in the division's portfolio. Besides Shu Uemura, the Luxury Division contains the Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren and Kiehl’s brands, as well as a number of fragrance licenses, including Viktor & Rolf and Diesel.

Shu Uemura is available in 18 countries (including Canada) and the decision won't affect any other market. Shu Uemura is said to do about 80% of its business in Asia. Of course, American customers looking for a Shu Uemura fix can still order products online.

I love my Shu Uemura eyelash curler (which I grabbed from Sephora) - I remember it instantly made a difference in my lashes compared to my previous curler (which, ironically, I think was L'Oreal).

Product Review: Olay Total Effects Body Wash – Exfoliate & Replenish

After the amazing results I saw from Olay’s Complete Ageless cleanser, I was excited to try yet another Olay product.

From Olay’s website: "Olay's most advanced body wash, Total Effects goes beyond cleansing to moisturize and fight 7 signs of aging all over your body. For soft, smooth skin in 1 shower, improved elasticity in 1 week, and young-looking, radiant skin in 1 month."

The product is advertised to:

- Improve elasticity
- Relieve dryness
- Deeply condition skin
- Brighten dull skin
- Even skin tone
- Smooth rough skin
- Minimize the appearance of dry lines

To Purr About:
- exfoliating beads to help keep skin smooth
- left my skin feeling smooth and moisturized
- lovely scent
- lathered up very well
- did not irritate my super sensitive skin

Final Comments:
I have previously tried Olay’s line of Botanical Fusion Body Washes and loved them, so I decided to try another body wash in Olay’s offered products.

I really enjoyed using this body wash. I can’t really say if this body wash improved the elasticity of my skin or evened out my skin tone, but it did really help the condition of my skin by moisturizing it. The exfoliating beads were really refreshing and left my skin feeling smooth and moisturized when I came out of the shower. The scent was also very pleasing.

After using this body wash for a few weeks I noticed that the only dry areas left on my skin were on my hands. I guess that can’t be helped because I wash my hands so often using harsher soaps during the day and forget to moisturize.

My favourite EcoTools to celebrate Earth Month

April is Earth Month, and I was asked to celebrate it by listing my favourite EcoTools products. Easy peasy, I thought, as this was a brand that I really liked and didn't have a problem sharing with my readers.

EcoTools has been around for only two years, but already, the company has grown very quickly. Its success includes:

I love carrying this body mist around during the hot summer months and it's also useful when travelling for a quick "pick-me-up". It has a nice, light refreshing scent.

- Bamboo 6 Piece Eye Brush Set
This little set is great to travel with. It has all the brushes I need to do my eye makeup and the carrying case and built-in mirror are perfect for tossing into my luggage and taking with me.

- Bamboo Bronzer Brush
I must confess - I use this brush for more than just brozner. I LOVE how thick and lush this brush is and the bristles are super soft.
