Brand: Clinique
Name: 7-Day Scrub Cream
Size: 100 ml
Price: $22 CAD
I stopped using exfolianting products because I found that they were actually causing some damage to my skin because my skin is so sensitive, but I received this 7-day scrub during a recent Clinique bonus, so I figured I’d try it.
From their website: "Nudges away roughness, flakiness to refine skin. Helps lessen the appearance of fine lines. Clears the way for moisture. Suitable for all skin types."
To Purr About:
- leaves my skin feeling SUPER soft
Claws Out:
- can be a bit harsh for super sensitive skin
- adds an additional step to the face cleansing/cleaning regime
Final Comments:
I ended up limiting the use of this product about once a week instead of daily since my skin is so sensitive. The result was that my skin was super soft. I was really impressed by the intense softness when I touched my skin after each use of this product.
Again, like other exfoliating face cleansers I had to really limit my use of it as my skin seemed to react badly if I used for days in a row, but overall I was impressed by how nice it made my skin feel and am definitely going to continue using it in the future.

Product Review: Beau Bain Luxurious Moisturizing Bath Bomb
Reviewer: Suziesaurus
Brand: Beau Bain
Name: Luxurious Moisturizing Bath Bomb
Size: 200 g
Price: $8 USD
Scent Tried: White Tea and Ginger
I have very sensitive skin and in the quest for a product to soothe my skin I have decided to try a bath bomb for the very first time. I have read many sources that have mentioned that bathing is much better for sensitive skin than showering. I’m not sure the logic behind this – but I’ll try anything once.
From Beau Bain’s website: "A soothing white tea scent with warm, intimate notes of white pepper and Artemisia creates moments of relaxation and well-being for both body and mind. This warm and nurturing scent pairs the sweet, mild fragrance of white tea with a vibrant ginger, slight notes of sandalwood and then seasoned with nutmeg and creamy musk in this unexpected combination of ingredients including skin softening shea butter."
To Purr About:
- available for sale ‘a la carte’
- beautifully packaged without being over packaged
- sweet and soothing scent
- scent is not overpowering
- skin felt moisturized during and after bath
Claws Out:
- none really, except that I have to clean the tub before bathing
Final Comments:
I couldn’t wait to try this product. I decided that the end of the weekend was a perfect opportunity to try it since I wasn’t too tired from a long day at work to clean the tub before bathing.
Watching the bath bomb fizz was lots of fun and the bathroom was quickly filled with the sweet and subtle scent. I was happy that the scent wasn’t overpowering and had a rich and deep character about it.
I lazed around in the tub relaxing and enjoying the scent and my skin felt amazing – very moisturized. Even hours after I got out of the tub my skin was nice and silky smooth and smelled wonderful.
I think this will now be a weekend tradition of mine to soak in the tub.

Product Review: Head & Shoulders Restoring Shine Conditioner
Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten
Brand: Head & Shoulders
Name: Restoring Shine Conditioner
Size: 400 ml
Price: n/a
This winter has been horrible to my hair, and in particular, my scalp. I've always grown up with no hair problems at all, but the last few years, I've definitely noticed a change in my scalp. Unfortunately, the super dry winter has caused a slight case of dandruff, which in my dark Asian hair, is noticeable even when it's very minor.
I love that Head & Shoulders has been so innovative in recent years and that they're constantly coming out with new shampoos and conditioners to add to their product line.
I recently tried the Restoring Shine Conditioner, which is "infused with natural extracts, gently purifies scalp and hair to provide a natural shine while leaving hair visibly flake free. Gentle and pH balanced."
To Purr About:
- lovely, light scent, reminds me of green apple
- leaves my hair very soft and shiny
- rinses cleanly and easily out of my hair
Claws Out:
- none really
Final Comments:
I love the smell of this shampoo - it's light and fresh. And with regular use, I definitely notice less flakes and my scalp isn't as itchy. Although it leaves my hair soft, I still don't think it's as conditioned as my regular shampoo, but this is definitely something I would grab whenever I start noticing those flakes!

Product Review: Lise Watier Complexion Enhancer
Reviewer: Suziesaurus
Brand: Lise Watier
Name: Complexion Enhancer
Size: 30 mlPrice: n/a
"An incomparable glow enhancer, this hydrating formula illuminates the complexion for an immediate "fresh from outdoors" look. Its velvety soft texture revives tired-looking skin."
To Purr About:
- convenient pump dispenser
- helps even out skin tone
- can add a slight tanned complexion to the skin if you have a fair complexion
- smooth texture
Claws Out:
- not too fond of the smell
- can leave streaks if you’re not careful applying
- wasn’t moisturizing and left my skin a bit dry
Final Comments:
I am a huge fan of Lise Watier’s lipsticks, so I’m always on the lookout for new products in their line that will work for me. Since I figured it’d be very nice to be able to use a product on my off days when I want to just hang out & bum around without much makeup on I figured I’d give this Complexion Enhancer a try.
The first thing I noticed when I applied this product was the smell – it’s quite pungent (at least to me). I don’t think it’s strong enough that others would notice, but I’m not a fan of it.
The product definitely evened out my skin tone making it look nicer overall by giving me a bit of a tanned glow, but the same could be achieved with a liquid foundation.

Product Review: Kiss My Face Sheer Organic Shimmer
Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten
Brand: Kiss My Face
Name: Sheer Organic Shimmer
Size: 0.08 oz / 2.4 g
Price: $4.95 USD
Shade Tried: Ruby
Kiss My Face’s SOS Sheer Organic Shimmers is a mineral based, 91% organic and 100% natural lip product that offers "sheer tint, silky shine and luscious Vanilla Mint flavor while conditioning and moisturizing lips with Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter and Vitamin E."
Available in 6 shades:
- Garnet: warm berry
- Amethyst: blend of mauve and lilac
- Topaz: bronze with a hint of pink
- Ruby: subtle medium pink
- Opal: soft lilac
- Pearl: pale pink
To Purr About:
- light, sheer colour doesn't really add too much colour, but it makes my own natural lip colour much more intense
- moisturizing enough to make my lips feel better
Claws Out:
- isn't as moisturizing as I need during the winter months
- after a week of use, the "dial" on my lip balm broke, so I can't retract, which is making things a little messy
Final Comments:
I love that this product adds just the best hint of colour to my lips. My lips look naturally flushed, which is pretty. The only drawback is that it isn't a heavy-duty moisturizer and doesn't have a glossy look.

NEW Product Line: NARS Spring 2009 Collection
NARS has recently revealed its Spring 2009 Collection and the colours are lovely - very feminine, with lots of pink and shimmer and glowing complextion - perfect to awaken everyone from the cold, stark winter!
"My inspiration for spring was a very sexy woman," explains François Nars, Founder
and Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics. "I wanted a bit of a ‘70s feeling,
somewhere between Guy Bourdin and Chris Von Wangenheim’s photographs—
aggressive, but very sensual and fragile at the same time."
The collection is available on narscosmetics.com starting February 2009.
Blush Duo, $37 USD
Made with smooth, superfine micronized powders for supreme blendability, and infused with radiance reflecting pigments. Plus a bit of glitter, or as Nars calls it, "jewelry for the face." The double compact opens to reveal 1 highlighting and 1 sculpting shade, allowing you to literally shape your desired look.
- Hungry Heart: iridescent gold ivory and pink sand with golden sheen
Duo Concealer, $30 USD
The Duo Concealer palette features 2 complementary shades. "The lighter shade
brings brightness to the eyes," says Nars, "while the darker one can be used to
blend directly with skin tone." The synthetic fragrance-free formula includes
ingredients like turmeric root extract and a vitamin C derivative that helps boost
radiance and brightness, and even out skin tone. Creamy and completely crease-resistant, the Duo Concealer is lightweight but still able to provide smooth, opaque coverage to eradicate skin redness, imperfections, and under-eye shadows.
- Vanilla/Honey: fair complexions
- Custard/Ginger: light to medium complexions
- Praline/Toffee: medium to dark complexions
Duo Eyeshadow, $32 USD
To celebrate spring’s delicate femininity, NARS introduces 2 new shimmery and frosty hued Duo Eyeshadows to the collection.
- Egea: frosted sage and smoky lilac
- Hula Hula: strawberry with gold particles and hazelnut with gold glitter particles
Single Eyeshadow, $22 USD
3 new Single Eyeshadows provide all the color combinations necessary to complete your makeup look. Go for a subtle, natural look with shades of pink and gold or a touch of sophistication with a sweep of the matte dusty red hue.
- Baby Girl: cotton candy with golden undertones and gold particles
- Grenadines: matte garnet
- Night Sun: bright marigold with gold particles
Multiple Duo, $45 USD
This 2-in-1 convenience pairs the complementary colors of Orgasm and South Beach of the versatile, multi-purpose cult favorite for eyes, lips and cheeks.
- Orgasm/South Beach: peachy pink and apricot with shimmer
Multiple Bronzer, $37 USD
NARS extends its Multiple Bronzer shade range with this new hue. Rich in antioxidants, this bronzing stick is formulated to strengthen, support and repair the skin while creating an all-over warmth and contour for the entire face.

Lip Gloss, $24 USD
Drench lips with this new sheer and shiny shade to echo the delicate and fresh feel of the season.
- Sweet Revenge: sheer pink grapefruit

Reviewer: Suziesaurus
Brand: Lise Watier
Name: Caresse Précieuse Diamant
Size: 2.5 g / 0.09 oz
Price: $25 CAD
Colour Tried: Silvery Shimmering Gel
"This unique creamy gel melts into the skin leaving silver sparkles on the cheekbones, décolleté, shoulders, etc. Divine on light or dark skin!"
To Purr About:

- lightweight compact comes with convenient mirror
- perfect for that night on the town or that special occasion
- not heavy or sticky
Claws Out:
- doesn’t come with application tool

Final Comments:
I used to be obsessed with glittery products back in the day, but since I’ve gotten older I usually stay away from them. However, special occasions do call for special products, right?
This product was fun to use. Sparkly, shimmery and light to use. It’s definitely great for the holidays or special events. However I would never use it on a normal basis as you end up with sparkles everywhere.

Product Review: eos Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream
Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten
Brand: eos
Name: Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream
Size: n/a
Price: $4.99 USD
Scent Tried: Vanilla Bliss
I've always used the typical drug-store shave creams, so I had never given a thought to trying something different in that aspect of my beauty routine. I wish I had given it more thought sooner!
Eos (the Evolution Of Smooth) offers an moisturizing cream that "shaves closer and leaves your skin smooth long after you shave."
- so moisturizing, you can shave wet or dry
- non-foaming cream enriched with natural aloe, oat, and shea butter soothes while boosting skin's moisture level
- Antioxidant vitamins E & C help skin look radiantly healthy
- comes in a soft-touch recyclable bottle that won't leave a rust ring in your tub.
Comes in some great scents, which is a great departure than the ones I've been used to:
- pomegranate raspberry
- lavender jasmine
- island blue
- cucumber melon
- vanilla bliss
- sensitive - fragrance free
To Purr About:
- the cream comes out thick and smoothes onto legs easily
- left my legs moisturized after shaving, not drying at all
- lovely smell
- I absolutely adore the rubbery, non-slip packaging - because there's no metal parts, it doesn't leave that rusty ring all normal cans do! Plus it's easy to grip in the shower
Claws Out:
- none really
Final Comments:
I love the thick, moisturizing shaving cream and the I love even more the amazing rubber packaging. I've been looking for something like this forever! Something that doesn't leave that ugly rust-ring on my shower shelf. The cream is nice and thick and leaves my legs soft after shaving.

Product Review: Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Optimism Bright Blossoms Body Lotion
Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten
Brand: Bath & Body Works
Name: Aromatherapy Optimism Bright Blossoms Body Lotion
Size: 6.5 fl oz
Price: $13 CAD
Part of Bath & Body Work's new line, Aromatherapy Optimism, their body lotion promises to keep skin soft and moisturized while a blend of Jasmine, Tuberose and Mate uplifts your spirit.
To Purr About:
- amazingly light, almost citrus smell, that's wonderful
- lotion is light and absorbs quickly
- left my skin moisturized and soft
- the fragrance lingers and lasts quite a long time
Claws Out:
- the lotion isn't super-moisturizing enough for a Candian winter, but is probably good for other climates or the spring & summertime
Final Comments:
The lotion is satisfactory and does absorb quickly and leaves skin moisturized, but for me, what makes this lotion great is the smell. It's wonderful - light, citrusy and I can't stop smelling my arm whenever I use this lotion because I really like the smell. Perhaps it's the aromatherapy at work, but I do love the smell and it makes me feel good.

NEW Product Line: Herbal Essences Hydralicious Shampoos & Conditioners
Herbal Essences introduces a new collection called Hydralicious that features 3 new shampoos and 3 new conditioners. The shampoos have hydrating "swirls" that are actually 2 different formulas that combine to moisturize and bring out the best in your hair: clear swirls clean and opaque swirls leave hair conditioned and soft.
Hydralicious Featherweight
Created for hair that needs body, as well as hydration. The shampoo includes a conditioning polymer called a coacervate forming polymer which acts like a butterfly net to provide coverage on the hair to leave it hydrated but not weighed down. Scented with a fusion of water lily nectar and passion fruit.
Hydralicious Self-Targeting
Scented with a lovely fusion of red vanilla and whipped aloe, this product is formulated with a Liquid Crystal polmer, which targets and adheres to drier hair surfaces. By giving extra conditioning to areas in need, like dry ends, hair is left hydrated, smooth and shiny.
Hydralicious Reconditioning
Created for dry, damaged, frizzy hair that needs extra conditioning. It combines the technology of a coacervate forming polymer and Liquid Crystal polymer to provide protection against key sources of dehydration such as colouring and heat damage. Scented with shea leaf and Hawaiian sea silk.
Available at retailers across Canada, these shampoos and conditioners sell for approximately $3.99 for a 300 mL shampoo and approximately $3.99 for a 300 mL conditioner.

Product Review: Anastasia Brow Enhancing Serum
Reviewer: Suziesaurus
Brand: Anastasia
Name: Brow Enhancing Serum
Size: 4.80 g
Price: approx. $35 CAD
After trying Anastasia’s Eye Light Shimmer I loved it so much made it part of my daily make-up routine.
Anastasia’s Brown Enhancing Serum is "designed to condition, repair, and restore the eyebrows."
To Purr About:
- colorless and odorless
- not greasy
- easy to apply
- can`t tell that it`s there
- saw a little brow enhancement over a prolonged period of use
Claws Out:
- doesn’t seem to promote brow growth where there isn’t any
Final Comments:
I applied this product twice a day for about a month, but it’s hard for me to determine if it’s working well of it it’s just my mind playing tricks on me. It’s great because you can’t tell that it’s there, so you can wear it during the day. And I do think I see some additional brow growth and some brow enhancement. Unfortunately I’m not seeing the additional brow growth where I’d like to see it, which is where there is no growth presently.
