Product Review: Head & Shoulders Restoring Shine Conditioner

Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten

Brand: Head & Shoulders
Name: Restoring Shine Conditioner
Size: 400 ml
Price: n/a

This winter has been horrible to my hair, and in particular, my scalp. I've always grown up with no hair problems at all, but the last few years, I've definitely noticed a change in my scalp. Unfortunately, the super dry winter has caused a slight case of dandruff, which in my dark Asian hair, is noticeable even when it's very minor.

I love that Head & Shoulders has been so innovative in recent years and that they're constantly coming out with new shampoos and conditioners to add to their product line.

I recently tried the Restoring Shine Conditioner, which is "infused with natural extracts, gently purifies scalp and hair to provide a natural shine while leaving hair visibly flake free. Gentle and pH balanced."

To Purr About:
- lovely, light scent, reminds me of green apple
- leaves my hair very soft and shiny
- rinses cleanly and easily out of my hair

Claws Out:
- none really

Final Comments:
I love the smell of this shampoo - it's light and fresh. And with regular use, I definitely notice less flakes and my scalp isn't as itchy. Although it leaves my hair soft, I still don't think it's as conditioned as my regular shampoo, but this is definitely something I would grab whenever I start noticing those flakes!

hi, i've been also using this conditioner:) Do you recommend anything else for dandruff?

Hi Ressa!

I also like the H&S Citrus Breeze, because I really like the smell.

However, if you have major dandruff, definitely look for products that have the ingredient "selenium sulfide". The regular H&S products don't have this, but their Intensive Treatment shampoo (completely dark blue bottle) has this and I know several people who suffer from dandruff that swear by it.

Selsun Blue also has selenium sulfide.

I was using H&S shampoo & conditioner for a few months, because I got a case of winter scalp itch too. But they really dried out my hair. Now I use a Tea Tree Oil shampoo and it takes care of the winter itchies, and leaves my hair shiny & clean.
I'm also trying something new, and rubbing some coconut oil on the ends of my hair, that I bought at a health food store. It's also supposed to restore softness, but it's too early to tell. At least there are no chemicals!

When I was younger I used Selsun Blue for winter-dandruff. But it also really dries out the hair.

I think any product with Selenium Sulfide will have the tendency to try out the hair.

Perhaps if you use (in addition to the Selenium Sulfide shampoo & conditioner) a leave in conditioner (I had 1 that you spray and leave in your hair after you wash it) it might help!
