Check out Noevir

One of the greatest things that I have discovered since starting this little blog is that I have been introduced to some really great cosmetics and beauty care brands that I wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise.

A couple of months ago I was introduced to another new line called Noevir, a great line from Japan (I love Japanese products!)

Noevir is researched, developed and manufactured in Japan and enjoys the standing of being in the top 50 skin care companies in the world for the past 7 yrs (as ranked by WD Beauty Biz Magazine).

In the February 5th, 2008 edition of Good Houskeeping's "Quick & Simple", country superstar Reba McEntire reveals the secrets behind her youthful complexion. The Queen of Country credits her great looks to:

"...nightly makeup removal and an herbal facial cleanser from Noevir, the Japanese skin-care line, which she special-orders. "I've been using it for 16 years," she says. "I've tried other products, but I like it the best."

I'm going to have product reviews up soon, but in the meantime, if you want to check out some of the Noevir products for yourself, visit my contact, Janice's site.

Product Review: Barielle Total Foot Care Cream

Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten

Brand: Barielle
Name: Total Foot Care Cream
Size: 4 oz / 113 g
Price: $19.50 USD

"A luxurious, conditioning formula that softens and helps to eliminate and remove calluses while healing chapped areas of the feet. It contains no peeling ingredients, acids or camphors, so it will not irritate sensitive areas of your skin on your feet. This award winning foot lotion leaves your entire foot feeling soft and silky. Total Foot Care Cream is the perfect treatment for calloused, chapped feet. After only a few uses you?ll be able to show off great looking feet and it can really enhance your pedicure." (from the Barielle site)

This product was an past Allure Best of Beauty winner (Editor's Choice 2003 and Editors Choice 2004) so I was surprised at the relatively inexpensive price.

I did do as they suggested and after putting on the cream, put on cotton socks to ensure I got the "full benefits" of the cream.

To Purr About:
- cream is very rich and slightly sticky, but after rubbing it in, it absorbs fairly well considering the thickness
- surprisingly, if you massaged it in well enough, it doesn't stick to the socks at all
- my feet do feel more moisturized with continued use (although I've only done this once a day, as opposed to the recommended twice a day treatment)

Claws Out:
- extemely strong fragrance (smells just like baby powder, which is nice, but may be too strong for some users)
- cream is really thick and takes a few minutes of massaging to be absorbed
- doesn't absorb right away, so you do need those socks on!

Final Comments:
Except for the really strong fragrance, this foot cream is pretty moisturizing. You won't see results immediately after the first use, but with continued use, I did notice that my feet were softer (especially my heels, which have thicker skin).

You can order this product (and other beauty products) on the Barielle web site.

Getting away from the all the red in its 2008 Holiday Collections, MAC brings out a more metallic look in its latest collectiong, Metal Urge. I don't know if it's because it's so different from the reds and pinks I seem to be seeing everywhere or the fact that I'm mildly obsessed with MAC eyeshadows and pigments lately, but I'm really liking this collection!

Product Review: Lise Watier 24 Carats Gloss

Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten

Brand: Lise Watier
Name: 24 Carats Gloss
Size: 7 ml / 0.24 us fl oz
Price: $17 CAD

"Back for this holiday season, 24 Carats Gloss will add extra appeal to lips this winter. The clear base, infused with tiny golden sparkles, the gentle and nourishing formula, and its subtle vanilla scent make it the season's bring-everywhere accessory" (from the Lise Watier press kit)

To Purr About:
- golden glitter adds a really 3-D sparkle to my lips
- gloss is light, not sticky
- light vanilla scent is nice
- because the gloss is clear, you can wear it over your favourite lipstick, adding golden "sparkle" to it

Claws Out:
- kind of "goopy" - when I pulled the brush out, it was dripping a little
- the golden sparkles really are little pieces of glitter, which gets everywhere (on your teeth and anything your lips come in contact with

Final Comments:
I love the sparkle that this gloss puts on my lips - it just Glitters with a capital G. However, the downside is that the little sparkles end up everywhere - I got some on my teeth and forget about kissing anyone with this on! It does look spectacular though, my husband thought the shimmer was amazing.

Product Review: Yes To Carrots Shower Gel

Reviewer: suziesaurus

Brand: Yes to Carrots
Name: Shower Gel
Size: 500 ml
Price: n/a

I’ve never been completely in love with a body wash or soap and I’ve just run out of my current body wash, so it’s time to try a new one!

I've tried Yes To Carrots' night moisturizing cream and liked it well enough so I figured I'd try some of their other products.

From their website: "Rich in Dead Sea Mud and minerals, C How to Shower nourishes and revives your skin, leaving you deliciously clean and smooth all over!"

To Purr About:
- lathers up well
- sweet scent doesn’t linger
- skin wasn’t itchy or dry after using

Claws Out:
- a very sweet smell – not overpowering, but I tend not to like scented stuff

Final Comments:
Like their night moisturizing cream I wasn't really liking the super sweet scent. Other than that I had no major complaints. It’s hard for me to review body wash – but I guess I felt clean. I don’t think this body wash is very moisturizing, but I didn’t find my skin itchy from dryness, so I would rate it pretty well as I have normally very dry & sensitive skin.

under the weather...

Hey Cinnamon Kitten readers!

I know I had promised a Daily Gift Guide to help you with your Christmas shopping, but some of you may have noticed that there hasn't been any Gift ideas for the past few days. Actually, there hasn't been much activity at all this past week.

Many apologies, but I've been hit with a nasty infection and it's almost wiped me out completely.

Between work, getting ready for the holidays, blogging and my Etsy project, I have been completely drained and haven't been taking care of my health lately. :( And it's finally caught up with me.

I'm hoping to rest up this weekend and will be back with lots of goodies and posts soon, I promise!

Product Review: Lise Watier Black Stars Eye Pencil

Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten

Brand: Lise Watier
Name: Black Stars Eye Pencil
Size: 1.2 g, 0.4 oz
Price: $16 CAD

Shade Tried: Black Gold

"A creamy, pigmented formula, a black base with colourful sparkles, long-lasting wear...Black Stars Eye Pencils are the season's glamorous staple. Enriched with pearl powder, this new generation of pencils come in 3 shades: Black Orchid (violet), Black Teal (teal) and Black Gold." (from the Lise Watier press kit)

To Purr About:
- creamy formula really glides on smoothly, didn't tug my eyelid at all
- nice, long pencil means it will last for a while
- lasted a long time and barely smudges or faded
- sparkles in the pencile leavea a subtle shimmer when used
- the formula is nice and dark with little pressure

Claws Out:
- a bit pricey compared to my usual eyeliners
- limited edition product means you won't find this product all the time

Final Comments:
I love how easily this eyeliner glides onto my eyelid - it's nice and smooth and the colour is rich and vibrant. The light sparkling effect is perfect for nights out and holiday parties. The only thing is that it's limited edition (so get yours quick!) and it's a little bit expensive compared to the eyeliners I'm used to.

Product Review: Your Best Face Defend

Reviewer: Suziesaurus

Brand: Your Best Face
Name: Defend
Size: 1 oz.
Price: $120 USD

YBF’s Defend product is said to "defend your face from sun and shine with our amazing gel that’s designed to protect the skin from daytime agers, improve your look with spin trap (the cutting-edge antioxidant) and keep pores under control."

Instructions: May be used alone or prior to the application of our other products. Apply a small amount evenly to the face and allow to dry.

To Purr About:
- has a very nice subtle almond scent
- convenient dispensing pump
- awesome pump that meant not an ounce was wasted
- after continual use my skin stayed in a constant good condition from when I started

Claws Out:
- a bit pricey
- adds another step to the daily beauty regime as I still have to use moisturizer and other products with it
- flakes off just a little bit

Final Comments:
Although YBF’s Defend product kept my skin in good condition, it didn’t quite give me that amazing complexion that I found their Restore product did. That’s obviously not a con, but if I’m going to pay around the same amount I’d rather buy the Restore product. I also found after using it daily that it did flake off just a little during the rest of my routine (moisturizing, makeup, etc.) which bothered me.
