I’ve been using the Body Shop’s Lip Scuff product lately to combat the dry winter weather with positive results, so I wanted to try their other lip treatment product – Lip Care.

"A unique blend of moisturizing and conditioning ingredients that helps take care of your lips, while adding a subtle hint of clear shine. Dermatologically tested."

To Purr About:
- no scent/taste/hue/colour
- doesn’t irritate my super sensitive and allergy-prone lips
- leaves my lips feeling so moisturized and in great condition
- isn’t greasy
- leaves my lips looking shiny and healthy

Claws Out:
- no SPF protection

Final Comments:
It was quite hard for me to even get my hands on this product – I had to go to about 4 different Body Shops as they were always sold out. I guess that’s a good sign that it’s quite a popular product.

I am in love with this product. It feels absolutely amazing on my lips. It is so smooth and silky and makes my lips feel amazing when I put it on. I haven’t had any chapped lips or peeling lips since I started using this product. I only wish this product had a hint of colour and/or SPF in it, but then I guess it might not be so amazingly good if it did.

For a lip conditioning product I think it is very effective and will probably keep using it, even though it is pricier than other lip conditioning products found at the local grocery store.

Final Comments:
As I mentioned previously, I like to change products every so often to keep things lively. I decided to try Biore’s skin cleanser as I am currently using their night moisturizer (Moonlighting Moisturizer) and their daily moisturizer (Dual Fusion).

After using this cleanser for a while I have to say that I did enjoy the ease of using it. It glided nicely over my skin and just a little went a long way. This gel cleanser left my skin feeling nice and clean and refreshed.

Winter is here and that usually means dry lips for me, but I still yearn for beautiful glossy looking lips, so once again I am on the search for new products that will give me colour and moisture.

From A Beautiful Life’s website: "S'stains are 100% natural, paraben-and petrochemical-free satin-y lip glosses. Each color is packed with natural lip conditioners, like shea butter, vitamin E and the near-miraculous argan oil! It also packs a pleasantly plumping trio of essential oils (cassia, peppermint, and ginger) - just enough to smooth fine lines and give you the perfect pout without stinging (ouchies!)"

To Purr About:
- available in 4 versatile shades
- glides on effortlessly
- does not dry out my lips or irritate them
- very light feeling – not sticky or heavy
- pleasant peppermint scent
- leaves my lips looking glassy and shiny

Claws Out:
- doesn't stay on very long
- a bit hard to control the application of (tube did not promote consistent flow)

Final Comments:
This is the first lip stain product I’ve ever tried.

I was a bit shocked when I first applied this product on my lips and smelt/tasted the peppermint. I really enjoyed how light and airy this lip stain felt. It wasn’t overly sticky or heavy which I find some lip glosses. The shade was fun and flirty and a little of the lip stain went a long way in giving my lips colour.

My only complaints were that this product didn’t stay on as long as I would like which made re-application often necessary, and also that the consistency (lightness) made it a bit hard to apply this product evenly – which is no problem when you have a mirror handy.

Final Comments:
As I've mentioned previously, I'm a huge fan of ecoTOOLS brushes - they're not only great to use, but very affordable and very friendly to the environment. This huge bronzer brush is a great addition to their brush lineup. It's huge, the brush head is super thick and it applies powder evenly and lightly. The bristles are nice and soft so the powder goes on easily.

Not only great for bronzers, this brush would come in handy for any type of "body powder".

It's time to Shop Smarter!

As beauty product mavens, I know most of you have heard it all - frizzy hair, skinny lips, skimpy lashes, lumpy thighs – for every beauty dilemma, there’s a product claiming to make your troubles go away. But many don’t, and lots of us have been suckered into buying stuff that doesn’t work (one of the reasons I started up the Cinnamon Kitten blog in the first place was to try and discuss with other beauty fans what works and what doesn't so we don't all waste our money!).

Well, here's another great article that's a must-read for every beauty product fan! The March 2010 issue of ShopSmart, from the publishers of Consumer Reports, has gone through and tested a bunch of beauty products and gives us the good, the bad, and the "don't waste your time" on some of the more popular "beauty dilemma fixers".

Some of the things you'll learn in the article:

Lash Growers

Lash growers are regulated by the FDA as drugs. (Latisse is FDA approved, but ShopSmart doesn’t recommend it because of risks.) You’ll still see plenty of other “lash lengtheners” on the market though. Some have been issued warning letters by the FDA because they contain drugs.

ShopSmart says: Stick with mascara. Lancôme Définicils, $24, was top-rated in their last test.

Lip Plumpers

The results for lip plumpers were unimpressive for increasing lip volume, though some, including products from Clinique and DuWop, temporarily smoothed lip lines a little.

ShopSmart says: Try makeup tricks instead. Line your lips with pencil just outside your natural lip line, then dot highlighter just above the upper lip and just below the lower lip.

Under-Eye-Circle Erasers

Many products promise to erase under-eye circle, but they’re hard to treat due to enlarged veins and very thin skin under the eyes.

ShopSmart says: Some eye creams with caffeine can offer temporary help for puffiness. If the problem is allergy-related, try antihistamines or topical hydrocortisone cream.

Hair Smoothers

Ads for Brazilian Keratin Treatment (BKT), a popular salon technique, claim that it leaves hair smooth and healthy-looking for months. But a main ingredient in BKT is formaldehyde, a probable carcinogen that is not banned by the FDA in hair straighteners.

ShopSmart says: Try a straightening iron. They like Revlon Perfect Heat Ceramic RVST2001C, $30.

Final Comments:
I can't say enough about the UNII Palette. I love it. I love the way it looks and how easy it is to use. I also love being able to have all my favourite products together in one place. Although I don't tend to carry my UNII Palette around much (I find the powders all get loose and mix together), I still love using it (great for travelling and on my limited bathroom counter space).

Another great feature of the UNII Palette is that you aren't limited to the makeup or the brand that you put in it (as opposed to other palettes that only hold certain brand sizes). You can put in blush, eyeshadow, lip gloss - pretty much anything you have that comes in a pan.

Also, after corresponding with Minna, the founder of UNII Cosmetics, I know that this is a quality product created by a woman who loves beauty products and cares about her customers.

The UNII web site has lots of great information on how to depot your pans from their plastic cases (if you're not buying the loose pans), cleaning information and examples of how other users filled their Palettes.

Final Comments:
I haven’t used Bioré products since I tried those Bioré pore clearing nose strips, so I figured it was high time for me to try some Bioré products.

I was hesitant to try a new night cream, because I was really loving my last night, but I am so happy I did. I really loved this product. It made my face feel moisturized, soft and healthy. I don’t know if it kept my skin moisturized for a full 24 hours, but it did keep my skin moisturized in the evenings. It’s definitely not as rich as other night creams I’ve used in the past, but is a nice change as it’s not as heavy.

I think the only thing missing from this great product, was that my skin didn’t glow or look superbly radiant during use. However, it was definitely impressive and worth the price.

Final Comments:
I had previously tried Olay’s Botanical Fusion Body Wash – Hydrate, and it was AMAZING, so I decided to try another in the line-up to try to combat the pesky winter dry skin.

It was just as amazing as the Hydrate body wash. I’m not sure I can tell a difference between the "hydrate" or the "restore" products, but I think I did enjoy the scent of Hydrate just a tad more. Olay’s Restore body wash was equally as moisturizing and left my skin feeling super soft

- has a very subtle and pleasant scent
- not oily or heavy
- did not irritate my super sensitive skin

- not as super moisturizing as my extremely dry skin needed it to be

Final Comments:
I don’t usually use body lotion, but with the dry winters my skin was definitely crying out for some moisturizing. Since I had so much success with Olay’s body washes and other products, I figured it was time for me to try their body lotion.

I didn’t find this product as moisturizing or long lasting as I would like, but it was better than some lotionsI’ve tried in the past. Keeping in mind I have super dry skin, it did have enough positive qualities that I am definitely going to try more of Olay’s body moisturizing products – perhaps the "ultra moisturizing" labeled ones.

Final Comments:
I love the fact that this product has vitamin C, so I’m absorbing vitamin C right through my skin!
This day treatment proved to be pretty impressive. It was so light that I quickly forgot that I even had it on and it kept my skin looking radiant during the day. It also gave my skin that special little bit of boost that not every moisturizer can and made my skin look extra special. Most impressive it actually seemed to help reduce the appearance of some of my very stubborn wrinkles!

Unfortunately it’s a bit pricey and as a result not something I can work in to my usual routine. But if you can afford to indulge yourself and would like to have a great moisturizer I would definitely suggest you try this one.
