Brand: Burt's Bees
Name: Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
Size: 0.15 oz / 4.25 g
Approx. Price: $4.99 CAD
I was desperate to find a product that would ail my horribly chapped lips and lip area, so I headed to my local Shoppers Drug Mart and picked up this lip balm. I’ve been using Lip Medex up to now, but I wanted to try something more “natural”. I’ve tried some Burt’s Bees products in the past (cuticle cream and a Lemon-Lime Lip Gloss) and although I wasn’t BLOWN away with the results, I have heard great things about their lip balms.
Burt’s Bees describes how their lip balm works (on their website): “This replenishing and hydrating natural lip balm is infused with the antioxidant goodness of Pomegranate oil. It replenishes moisture and restores texture to reveal smooth, healthy lips, and coats them for a smooth, even-toned appearance.”
To Purr About:
- nice subtle scent/taste of pomegranates
- light feeling, not heavy/waxy
- "all-natural"
Claws Out:
- not very moisturizing
- doesn't last very long - meaning lots of re-application
- no SPF
Final Comments:
I used this product religiously for a few weeks to try to wean myself away from relying too heavily on Blistex’s Lip Medex product, but I was finding myself having to reapply every few minutes (no exaggeration). And although it worked to soothe my heavily chapped lips, I was definitely wanting for more lasting time. I will probably re-try it when the weather is less dry.

I'm currently using Carmex's moisturizing lip balm (Cherry flavour) with SPF15.
When i first tried it a while back when my sister generously picked 1 up for me in the US I found the SPF to bother my sensitive lips, but as my sis kept reiterating how great it was I decided to try it again.
I LOVE this product & can't live without it now. My lips quickly got used to the SPF & i'm totally addicted. I love it so much & i'm so happy that my lips are protected from the sun! =)
I piced up the strawberry flavour on my recent trip to the US & i can't wait to try it!
I got the worst chapped lips in the fall. Someone recommended using my tooth brush on my lips to get rid of dry skin, and it made things 10 times worse. Then I read about how toothpaste can really irritate your lips, so now when I brush my teeth, I make sure all traces of toothpaste are gone. Right now I'm using Goat Milk balm and Neosporin balm and they're both great!
tyhanks so much for trying out all these things for us. I really apreciate your effort!
I didn't know neosporin made a balm! i'll have to check that out next time i'm at the drug store. Where can i get the goat's milk balm???
I didn't know toothpaste was an irritant - thanks for the tip! I will definitely start being more consciencious after i've brushed my teeth!
I do use the toothbrush tip when i have skin peeling off my lips to just get rid of all the peeling.
I'm in Canada(Ont) and both balms are available at Shoppers Drug Mart. Goats Milk Lip Balm is from a company called "Canus", and is usually with the other lip balms. I tried the Neosporin liquid balm originally & didn't like it. Then a guy at work told me about their regular lip balm and it's great - but I'm most excited about an ad I just saw for a Neosporin balm with spf - finally! All this talk lately about wearing lip gloss without spf makes me only want to choose stuff with spf now.
Cool - thanks! I'll definitely check out Shoppers Drug Mart next time i'm there for the goat's milk lip balm!
